Campus Expansion

VCC opened its newest building in January 2009. The 125,000 square foot facility marks the college's first major expansion in about 25 years and features 36 classrooms and 24 labs of various kinds.

Building highlights include:

• state-of-the-art health care labs and classrooms
• much-needed student study space
• a dedicated event space; new coffee kiosk and quick-service food outlet
• drop-in workstations; and several break-out rooms in faculty and teaching areas

Building systems include environmentally friendly features such as high-efficiency lighting and heating/ventilating, all computer-controlled for maximum power-savings.

Total cost of the new building: $55 million, with $44 million from the provincial government and the balance from VCC and the community through the Vision for the Future fundraising campaign. Several naming opportunities are still available.
