Deaf Literature (SIGN 2500)

The Deaf Literature course increases the student's exposure to the stories and experiences of Deaf people. Readings include poetry, essays, and plays written in English by Deaf and hearing authors. In addition, videotaped presentations that address issues relevant to the lives, language, culture, and aspirations of d/Deaf people are viewed in class. The aim of this course is to examine perspectives on and attitudes toward deafness as revealed in these works and presentations.
