Ensemble – Jazz Orchestra I (MUSC 1198)

This course sequence gives students the opportunity to rehearse and perform a wide variety of big band repertoire at a professional ensemble standard.  The ensemble is a traditional jazz big band containing 5 saxophones (woodwinds), 4-5 trumpets, 4-5 trombones, piano, guitar, bass and drums with a vocalist often included.  The ensemble explores a wide variety of repertoire striving to touch on important historical pieces, innovative newer works and works of Canadian, and particularly, local composers.
