Health and Healing (HRCA 1131)

This course provides students with the opportunities to develop a theoretical framework for practice. Students are introduced to the philosophical values and theoretical understandings that provide a foundation for learning and competent practice as an HCA. The course focuses on introduction on the role of an HCA students, concepts of caring and person-centered care; basic human needs and human development; family, culture and diversity as they relate to health and healing. Students are also introduced to a problem-solving model that is critical to their practice.
