Worker Safety & Security (HOCR 0642)
Being aware of the need for safety is important on every work site. This course provides the student with the knowledge and skills to adhere to safety guidelines and to follow emergency and security guidelines and procedures. Students learn the safe use of equipment, proper lifting, preventing slips and falls, how to perform lockout, and to identify and follow WHMIS information and guidelines. WorkSafe BC resources are used to provide up to date information on injury prevention. Students learn industry expectations in providing security in guest rooms, and confidentiality is discussed. Serving It RightÖ, BC's Responsible Beverage Service Program is introduced. Emergency fire and evacuation procedures are covered.
