Instructor and Teacher Training

The School of Instructor Education at Vancouver Community College offers two programs, over 20 courses and develops personalized and specialized workshops to those interested in becoming professional adult educators and trainers. Graduates of its programs instruct in colleges, government, industry and in both non-profit and private sector organizations. 

Courses are scheduled year round at many locations in British Columbia, Alberta and online as well. The School of Instructor Education also offers training to companies and organizations at their place of work upon request. In addition, the School of Instructor Education provides instructor training programs to international clientele both in Canada as well as abroad and has conducted sessions in China, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Chile, Poland, Russia and the United States.

Curriculum Development Assistant (Hospitality Training Program) - Skill Development

This opportunity presents a flexible schedule, opportunity to work from home (with weekly meetings at the Burnaby office) and competitive remuneration for a hard working individual. To start, they would like to sign a 3 month contract, however there will be significant potential to continue to work with them.

They are looking for someone who would like to develop their portfolio and work on a unique program featuring a blended delivery method for international students. You will work collaboratively on the following:

  • Research and develop relevant course material for training in the hospitality sector. 
  • Write lesson plans, create assignments and assessments to satisfy and demonstrate student proficiency in respect to the program’s learning objectives. 
  • Provide editing support for pre-existing course materials created by others. 
  • Design and layout course materials for online and in-person delivery. 
  • Additional future opportunities include delivering online lessons, assisting instructional staff with program management and the development of new courses and educational offerings from the institute.
