Program Description

Program Description

This is one of the five drafting programs available at VCC. In the first two months, students learn concepts, techniques and accepted practices in the drafting industry. Students learn computer-aided drafting and are introduced to specialty areas of drafting.

In the final eight months of the program graduates of this program will have developed the drafting and 3D modeling skills which will enable them to enter the workforce in many areas as team members in architectural firms, consulting engineering firms, municipal, provincial or federal offices, as well as in private industry. Graduates will be prepared to work on a wide variety of residential housing developments, commercial buildings and institutional complexes.

Upon completion of the initial 10 month Architectural Technician Certificate, a VCC diploma may be earned by completing a second drafting specialty (terms 2 & 3, 8 months training) in either Steel Detailing or Civil/Structural.
