Program Description

Program Description

The Bachelor of Applied Music Degree is designed to prepare graduates to work as music professionals in emerging music and music-related professions.

This is a full-time program where students participate in a combination of classroom instruction, lab activities, rehearsals, performances, and work experiences. There is also a practicum component in which students complete fieldwork in an area of their choosing within the music industry.

In each of the four terms, students enroll in either classical voice or performance concentration. In the first two terms, students enroll in either Conducting or Creative Music Improvisation.

Classes are generally held Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (subject to change). Some evenings and weekends may be required for rehearsals, performances and other activities.

Courses offered in the degree program are limited to students who have been admitted to the Bachelor of Applied Music program. From time to time, VCC may grant permission for other students to access some of the degree courses.
