Fixed Prosthetics - Orthodontics (DNTL 1202)
Students are introduced to fundamental theoretical knowledge and supportive laboratory skills related to the fabrication of simple removable/fixed orthodontic appliances. The fabrication of a Hawley retainer will enable students to apply these basic theory and laboratory skills. This course expands upon the theory base of a Dental Technology program and will enhance the students’ ability to design, fabricate, critique and self-evaluate their orthodontic appliance. This course includes in-class instruction, lab demonstrations and hands-on lab practice. Prerequisite: Graduation from a Dental Technology program OR three years’ experience as a Dental Technology Assistant. Requirement: Lab materials list will be provided to students prior to class and materials must be brought to first day of class. (14 hours)
