Program Description
Program Description
This is one of the five drafting programs available at VCC. In the first two months, students learn concepts, techniques and accepted practices in the drafting industry. Students learn computer-aided drafting and are introduced to concepts of residential building construction and technology.
Graduates of this new program will have developed the drafting skills which will enable them to enter the workforce in many areas as team members in building and developer firms, architectural firms, municipal, provincial or federal offices, as well as in private industry. Graduates will work on a wide variety of new home design and construction, home renovations, and development work.
Upon completion of the initial 14 week CAD Technician Short Certificate, a VCC Certificate may be earned by completing a drafting specialty (terms 2 & 3, 8 months training) in either Steel Detailing, Civil/Structural or Architectural.
Students receive a CAD Technician Short Certificate upon successful completion of the program.
