The Internet has become a medium for people to carry out a whole range of life's activities, including education. Instructors of online eLearning need to prepare themselves with knowledge and skill sets directly related to this teaching and learning environment.
This certificate program builds on a foundation of professional preparation experience as an educator. Completion of the certificate is a follow-up to prior instructor training.
By the conclusion of this certificate program, students will be able to:
Instructional Activities, Design and Delivery Mode
The program is designed to combine theory and practice within a multi-dimensional, constructivist, project-based learning experience. Real-life learning situations have been created in which participants demonstrate online instructor competencies by means of authentic assessment tasks.
Evaluation of Student Learning
Evaluation of student learning is based on completion of course assignments and projects. Due dates and criteria for successful completion of each course assignment will be outlined by the instructor at the beginning of each course.

Admission Requirements
This program welcomes applications from Canadian citizens and permanent residents. Program options for international students can be found at VCC International.
As Vancouver Community College is a post-secondary institution committed to educating adult learners, applicants should be 16 years of age or older or a graduate of a secondary school.
Please note that you must submit official transcripts and educational documents to support your application; unfortunately, we cannot accept photocopies or fax versions.
Missing prerequisites? VCC offers courses in Adult Upgrading and English as an Additional Language to help you meet your goals.

Prior Learning Assessment & Recognition (PLAR)
You can apply for an exemption for a course based on your formal education, previous experience and current level of knowledge and skills. You may apply for a maximum of one course for exemption through PLAR or prior course equivalency.
The fee for Prior Learning Assessment is half the tuition in that particular course at that time. The submission of materials and information that you supply will be graded. If your submission is not accepted, you will still be charged for the process and be asked to complete the course.
