VCC Student Awards

Twice a year, VCC holds student awards ceremonies to celebrate student success and present scholarships and awards to exceptional students. Students are recognized for academic excellence and leadership in the classroom or in their community. 

Awards ceremonies are held at VCC's Broadway campus and are presented by the VCC Foundation. We thank our generous donors for supporting VCC students.


If you have received an invitation to the ceremony, please RSVP by filling out the online form even if you can’t make it. If you need assistance or have any questions, please contact awards@vcc.ca.


A professional photographer will be in attendance to capture you receiving your award at the ceremony. Photos will be posted to VCC’s Flickr account shortly after the ceremony.


Pay parking is available in the parking lot on 7th avenue, 1120 E. 7 Ave. Street parking is also available on a first-come, first-served basis.


What will I receive at the ceremony?
Awards vary and can be in the form of a cheque, tuition credit, gift card, or membership. Awards will be distributed during the awards ceremony.

How many guest tickets can I have?
As our event space is very limited, we have a limit of two guest tickets. If you are hoping to bring an extra guest, please email awards@vcc.ca to make a request.  Please note, extra guest spots are not guaranteed.

I have questions regarding my award or my award donor. Who do I contact?
Please email awards@vcc.ca for more information about your award.

What is the dress code?
Dress code is business casual.

I need assistance at the ceremony. Who do I talk to?
Please email awards@vcc.ca ahead of time with your special request.

What time should I arrive for the ceremony?
We ask award recipients to arrive 30 minutes before their ceremony time to check-in and get seated.

I RSVP’d “YES” but am unable to attend anymore. What do I do?
Please make sure to email awards@vcc.ca to let us know you won’t be able to attend.

I missed the RSVP deadline. Am I still allowed to attend the ceremony?
Yes. Email award@vcc.ca with your full name, student ID, and guest ticket preference (1 or 2).

If I can’t make the ceremony, when and where can I pick up my award?
Awards will be available for pick up after Monday, June 3, at the Broadway campus Financial Aid office located on level 4, Building A. If you are unable to pick up your award in person, please contact Financial Aid at financialaid@vcc.ca or 604.871.7046 to arrange to have your award mailed to you.

I have a question regarding the Awards ceremony that is not listed above. Who do I contact?
All general awards inquires may be directed to awards@vcc.ca. Note that due to the high volume of emails we receive it may take up to three business days to receive an answer from us.

I'm not sure what to include in my biography. Do you have a sample?
Biographies are read aloud during the Awards ceremonies. We ask that biographies are short (300 characters or less) and gives the audience a brief overview about you, your goals and accomplishments, and who you would like to thank. Sample bios can be found here.

I'm not sure what to write in my thank-you letter to the donor of my award. Do you have a sample?
Generous donors make these awards and scholarships a possibility for VCC students. To show appreciation, we ask that award recipients write a thank-you letter to the donors. Letters could include how the award will help you, a description of your journey thus far, and your goals. Sample thank-you letters can be found here.
