Description
This course introduces students to the pharmacy technician's role in providing pharmacy services in community pharmacy practice. Students will learn to process prescriptions, apply third party insurance plans, maintain accurate records, and ensure prescription accuracy. Students will discuss common issues pertaining to pharmacy security. During the lab component, students will build proficiency in pharmacy software and dispensing skills.

Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Describe professional pharmacy practice in community pharmacies. (1)
- Describe the delivery of health care services in community pharmacies. (2)
- Prepare prescriptions safely and accurately. (3)
- Explain third party insurance policies and procedures. (4)
- Maintain records and equipment in community pharmacies. (5)
- Use community pharmacy dispensing software. (6)
- Implement pharmacy security systems and procedures. (7)
