Description
This supervised practical experience provides students with an opportunity to apply knowledge and skills learned in the other level one courses in the Health Care Assistant programs with individuals in a multi-level or complex care setting. Opportunity will be provided for students to gain expertise and confidence with the role of the Health Care Assistant within a residential care facility. During this course students' skills and application of knowledge will be assessed.

Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Provide person-centred care and assistance at a beginning level, that recognizes and respects the uniqueness of each individual client.
- Use an informed problem-solving approach at a beginning level, to provide care and assistance for two dependent clients. The care provided promotes the physical, psychological, social, cognitive and spiritual well-being of clients and families.
- Provide person-centered care and assistance at a beginning level, for clients experiencing complex health challenges.
- Interact with other members of the healthcare team in ways that contribute to effective working relationships and the achievement of goals.
- Communicate clearly, accurately and in sensitive ways with clients and families.
- Provide personal care and assistance at a beginning level, in a safe, competent and organized manner.
- Recognize and respond to own self-development, learning and health enhancement needs.
- Perform the care-giver role in a reflective, responsible, accountable and professional manner.
