Description
Students will develop professional communication skills that support their growth in IT and cybersecurity careers. In this course, students will create targeted job application materials, strengthen interview and networking techniques, and build an online presence aligned with industry expectations. Students will also practice effective communication in workplace scenarios and engage in activities that help them articulate their skills with confidence, preparing them to present themselves professionally in real-world career opportunities.

Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Create ATS-optimized resumes and cover letters that align technical skills with job requirements, using modern resume templates and keyword optimization strategies to pass Applicant Tracking Systems and secure interviews for IT roles.
- Develop comprehensive interview preparation strategies including behavioral questions (STAR method), technical scenarios, and company research, practicing mock interviews and demonstrating professional communication skills for IT and cybersecurity positions.
- Execute effective job hunting strategies using professional networking platforms, job search platforms, and company websites, while identifying target companies, tracking applications, and maintaining organized job search documentation with follow-up procedures.
- Optimize professional networking profiles for visibility including compelling headlines, detailed experience descriptions, skills endorsements, and professional headshots.
- Build strategic professional networks using professional networking platform search features for people and company discovery, implementing outreach strategies, connection requests, and relationship building techniques to expand career opportunities in IT and cybersecurity.
- Develop professional communication skills for networking events, informational interviews, and industry connections, by creating elevator pitches, follow-up templates, and maintaining professional relationships through effective outreach and communication strategies.
