Description
This course provides students with comprehensive knowledge of the various tools used in the refrigeration field, including their proper application and associated safe practices and usage. It prepares students to expand their understanding of different types of fasteners and fittings used in piping trades, identifying their types and applications. Course activities include practical exercises on the proper use and fabrication of piping projects.

Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Identify trade-related mechanical/electrical tools and their application.
- Describe safety procedures for tools and equipment.
- Select and use trade specialty diagnostic and measurement tools including gauge manifold sets, vacuum gauges, charging stations, weight scales, and temperature recorders.
- Select and use trade specialty tube working tools including tube benders, swaging tools, and flaring tools.
Prior Learning Assessment & Recognition (PLAR)
Methods of assessment may include a challenge exam, submission of a product or portfolio for review, or a practical demonstration. Please contact the Department for details.

Instructional Strategies
