Description
This course introduces students to essential service procedures and residential air conditioning systems. Students will learn proper refrigerant handling techniques, basic system operations, and maintenance procedures for small unitary equipment. Through hands-on training, participants will develop the skills needed to safely service residential cooling systems while following provincial and national regulations.

Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Perform charging, recovery, evacuation, and recycling procedures in accordance with provincial and national regulations
- Perform service procedures on small unitary, A/C systems
- Perform basic start-up procedures for residential A/C systems
- Perform periodic maintenance tasks to ensure efficient and safe operation of residential cooling systems
Prior Learning Assessment & Recognition (PLAR)
Methods of assessment may include a challenge exam, submission of a product or portfolio for review, or a practical demonstration. Please contact the Department for details.

Instructional Strategies
A combination of lecture, demonstration, simulations, problem solving, practical lab activities and reflective discussion will be used throughout this course.
