Description
A complete understanding of electrical diagrams and the ability to interpret them is of utmost importance for a successful career in the HVAC and refrigeration industry. This course covers the basic concepts of electrical circuits and symbols which are found on all HVAC and refrigeration systems. Throughout the course, students will spend significant time working with a variety of electrical diagrams.

Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Identify and describe features of electrical circuit drawings including pictorial diagrams, block diagrams, one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and schematic diagrams
- Read and interpret electrical diagrams
- Troubleshoot electrical circuits
Prior Learning Assessment & Recognition (PLAR)
Methods of assessment may include a challenge exam, submission of a product or portfolio for review, or a practical demonstration. Please contact the Department for details.

Instructional Strategies
A combination of lecture, demonstration, simulations, problem solving, practical lab activities and reflective discussion will be used throughout this course.
