Description
This course will enable the learner to further develop knowledge, skills and attitudes for the provision of culturally safe and relevant dental hygiene care. An exploration of areas of professional responsibility, the integration of evidence-informed practice, critical thinking and advanced periodontal strategies, and concepts of evaluation will prepare the learner for the provision of care and advocacy for clients with complex needs and individuals with health inequities throughout the lifespan.

Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Integrate pertinent knowledge and evidence-informed approach to decision making for the provision of dental hygiene care for clients with complex needs.
- Determine strategies to provide dental hygiene care tailored to the unique needs of individuals and clients with health inequities, recognizing the influence of the determinants of health and the need for advocacy.
- Develop strategies for interprofessional communication with health care professions to promote health for individuals with complex needs.
