Description
This course provides students with an opportunity to research education and career options and develop individual education and career action plans. Students complete a variety of assessment tools to help them generate ideas for appropriate individual career and educational directions. Students develop decision-making and goal-setting skills.
ACED 0707, ACED 0709, ACED 0710, and ACED 0711 are required for completion of ABE Provincial level Career Planning.

Grade 12 Equivalency
Prerequisites
English 9 or equivalent.
Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Education and Career Exploration Skills
• analyze current labour market and future trends
• investigate and develop a personal network
• undertake occupational and educational research
• identify available funding supports
• apply personal values, strengths, skills and interests to optional career paths
• investigate entrepreneurial options
• investigate and utilize work-related community resources
• familiarize themselves with student support services
• use a fluid process of goal setting for educational and career planning

• review Labour Standards Act

• design and implement a personal budget
• investigate and utilize community resources
• examine the impact of lifestyles choices

Instructional Strategies
Students will be expected to work individually, in small groups and as a whole class to complete the course curriculum. Some reading assignments will be done out of class.
