Description
This project course allows students to propose and pursue a topic of interest related to the baking & pastry arts field. Students are encouraged to be creative and challenge themselves to research and deepen their knowledge of the chosen topic. Included in this project course is an ePortfolio which contains various artifacts such as images of their products, collection of learning experiences and resume. The project culminates in an online presentation to fellow learners.
This course is part of the full-time Baking and Pastry Arts – Artisan Baking & Baking and Pastry Arts - Pastry Program.

Prerequisites
For Artisan Baking Certificate: BAKG 1341, BAKG 1342, BAKG 1343, BAKG 1344, For Pastry Certificate: BAKG 1314, BAKG 1347, BAKG 1348, BAKG 1349, BAKG 1350.
Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Propose a self-directed topic of interest related to the Baking and Pastry Arts field
- Relate the chosen topic of interest to current understanding and knowledge
- Research the topic of interest to gain a deeper understanding and knowledge
- Engage fellow learners in an online presentation of research and findings
- Collect reflective experiences and critical analysis throughout the whole program in the ePortfolio
- Present artifacts of interest to potential employers in the ePortfolio
- Present their resume in the ePortfolio
- Critically analyze and document performance to enhance comprehension and ongoing professional development

Instructional Strategies
Using an independent-strategies approach, this course provides students with the opportunity to pursue a self- directed topic of interest and apply learning experiences with their reflective journal.
