Description
This part-time course is designed to meet the diverse learning needs of students with disabilities. By developing functioning literacy skills, participants increase their independence in community life and prepare for future learning and employment opportunities. Students participate in group and individual work. Students benefit from a small class size and activities that focus on functional literacy skills. Computer assisted instruction is part of the course.
This course is part of Adult Special Education - Part-time Courses.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- grammar rules in written communication
- spelling ability
- proper punctuation
- reading different kinds of stories and reading materials
- reading comprehension

Instructional Strategies
Students are given a variety of practical, applied opportunities to learn both at their own pace and as part of group instruction. Learning activities are highly interactive, engaging, fun and meaningful. Students benefit from using a computer to reinforce and practice concepts introduced by the instructor.
