Description
This theory and practical course introduces students to the foundational knowledge and skills necessary to successfully fabricate a complete removable denture. Students are able to apply knowledge of current workplace health and safety standards including dental laboratory asepsis and infection control to their work in the Denturist Lab.

Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Practice to current workplace health and safety standards including Denturist lab and clinic asepsis, and infection control.
- Identify the components of a complete denture.
- Describe the reasons for the provision of removable complete dentures, their limitations and contraindications.
- Describe the characteristics and properties of the dental materials associated with the fabrications of a complete denture, including principles of safety and manipulation.
- Apply foundational concepts and principles relating to the design and fabrication of complete dentures.
- Identify pertinent theoretical knowledge and empirical data and information literacy skills to justify and/or revise services.
- Apply essential elements and skills of behavioural sciences, communications and professional ethics, following the concepts of a Competency Framework in the lab setting.
- Apply critical thinking and problem solving skills when making practice decisions.
