Description
In this course, students continue to gain expertise in performing patient assessment procedures. Students continue to develop skills in professional conduct, patient communication and clinic/lab asepsis. Clinical applications for clients requiring both Removable Partial Dentures and Complete Dentures include patient consultation, treatment planning, intra-oral and extra-oral assessments, preliminary impression procedures, face-bow registration, tooth mobility testing, post insertion follow up and maintenance of the dental treatment record. In addition, students develop skills in the manipulation of final impression materials, bite registration materials and border molding for final impressions.

Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate a complete oral examination of patient.
- Demonstrate thorough documentation of patient medical and physiological information relevant to the Denturist treatment plan.
- Demonstrate skills to manipulate impression materials for making preliminary impressions for Complete and Partial Dentures.
- Demonstrate skills to manipulate impression materials for border molding and making final impressions for Complete and Immediate Dentures.
- Demonstrate intra oral registration procedures for a partially edentulous patient.
- Demonstrate the process for using a face-bow and transferring the records from patient to a semi-adjustable articulator.
- Demonstrate clinical try-in procedures for partial and fully edentulous patients.
- Apply procedures for denture insertion and post insertion care.
- Demonstrate skills in professional conduct, patient communication and clinic/lab asepsis.
