DENT 1280: Digital Technology 2

Description
This course builds on the knowledge and skills learned in Digital Technology 1. Digital Technology 2 focuses on creating single unit dental crown patterns with emphasis on aesthetics, form and basic function. Students will continue with AFG (Anatomical Functional Geometry or similar systems) dental anatomy exercises using Dental Computer Aided Design (CAD) software sculpt tools. This course also introduces dental implants and Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM).

Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Design digitally rendered dental restorations using basic knowledge of dental software.
- Create a single unit fixed prosthetic restorations by applying principles of aesthetics, form and function.
- Create single unit fixed prosthetic restorations by applying computer aided design techniques and principles.
- Use Dental CAD software to design implant restorations.
- Demonstrate knowledge of processing digital impressions.
- Make decisions based on sound reasoning and evidence-based practice when creating virtual restorations.
