Description

This lecture/seminar course introduces the student to the profession of Certified Dental Assisting. Course topics include interpersonal and inter-professional communication, conflict resolution in a health care setting, and the legal scope of practice of a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA). The course also focuses on the concepts and principles related to the preparation phase of patient care by emphasizing the dental equipment, instruments and armamentaria required for restorative dental procedures as well as the fundamentals of microbiology and the responsibility of the CDA for infection control. Additionally, students are introduced to patient records and dental charting. This course is part of the full-time Certified Dental Assisting Program.

Instructional Strategies
