Description
Students explore reasons for working and develop an understanding of their personal interests and strengths, enabling them to make informed decisions about their career choices.

Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Complete personality self-assessment and discuss results
- Identify job search websites and complete basic job searches online based on self-assessment
- Summarize a variety of employment industries
- Identify how industry trends affect hiring practices, workplace culture and work practice
- Summarize company profiles across multiple industries
- Discuss equity and diversity in the workplace and how it relates to self-awareness and career choices
- Identify employee rights under the BC Employment Standards Act
Prior Learning Assessment & Recognition (PLAR)
PLAR will be assessed by the Department according to standardized practice and using one or more of the following components: exams, professional portfolios, interviews, performance assessments, or other evaluations.
