Description
This course offers learners the opportunity to further expand their knowledge, skills, attitudes, behaviours and judgements to meet entry to practice competencies. Learners will experience the provision of dental hygiene care in varied practice settings. Learners will use the ADPIE framework, while practicing as part of intra- and inter-professional health teams to provide safe and comprehensive, person-centered care for diverse people across the lifespan. Learners will integrate multiple concepts, models and theories into the assessment, planning and evaluation of dental hygiene services for people with diverse needs. Learners' progress to basic proficiency as consciously competent practitioners in preparation for entry-to-practice by the end of the course.

Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Coordinate and provide safe, preventive, interceptive, and therapeutic, services in varied practice settings for clients with complex needs across the lifespan.
- Apply appropriate health promotion strategies and interventions as an oral health educator and client advocate recognizing the influence of the determinants of health.
- Take responsibility for decisions, actions and time management that reflect critical thinking and evidence-informed problem solving within varied clinical practice environments.
- Communicate clearly and accurately in written, verbal, electronic and visual forms with individuals regarding oral and general health.
- Collaborate and work effectively as a member of intra- and inter-professional health care teams to provide oral health services and advocate for improved health and the well-being of clients with diverse needs.
- Assess professional performance in relation to standards of practice and legislation.
