Description
This course introduces the student to the basic concepts, properties, and design principles of reinforced concrete and building support. Students then learn how to draw and detail concrete foundations.

Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Create structural engineering plans and details of foundation components to industry standards
- Identify and describe the properties of reinforced concrete and its components
- Explain concepts of foundation design and soil mechanics
- Explain how reinforcing steel acts when combined with concrete
- Calculate development and lap lengths for steel reinforcing
- Describe the components of concrete formwork
- Apply structural information from engineering design notes to produce drawings.
