Description

Students study survival vocabulary needed for everyday life in Canada. Students orally make simple requests, ask very basic questions and understand and respond, verbally or non-verbally, to simple requests and basic questions. Students study phonics and start to build up a sight-reading vocabulary and read simple ESL materials on topics of personal relevance as well as copy words, phrases, short simple sentences, and fill out forms. Some examples of possible vocabulary units are: housing, health, shopping and telling time.
