Description
Students study vocabulary needed for everyday life in Canada. Students orally make and respond to simple requests, and ask and respond to basic questions. Students give and understand basic oral descriptions and instructions. Students continue to develop word attack skills (phonics) and sight reading vocabulary so they can read simple ESL materials on topics of personal relevance. Students copy and spell words and phrases, and write using structured and guided writing techniques such as filling in blanks, finishing sentence stems, and filling in forms. Possible vocabulary units are: occupations, community and emergencies.
