Description
Children’s time today is more structured than it has ever been at any other point in modern history. This workshop will identify some ways unstructured play affects child development and explore some types of experiences that facilitate children’s independent learning through play.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Discuss the reasons for implementing unstructured play opportunities in the early learning classroom.
- Identify ways in which we can facilitate deeply engaging self-directed play.
- Identify opportunities for children to independently create and pose solutions to their own problems.
