Description
Introduction to the practice of Interior design. Through lecture, research, in class discussion and assignments students will be exposed to: Design Theory, Process, Concept development, Principles and Elements of Design (and the practical application of these principles and elements). Students will predict and discover design challenges and develop design problem solving methods. Current space planning techniques will be addressed as well as consideration of sustainable practices.

Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Identify and describe the principles and elements of design
- Record concept development and design process through effective diagrams and sketches
- Present design concepts and solutions both orally and visually (Presentations) using the vocabulary of design
- Recall and express the steps of the design process
- Apply the basics of space planning through programming, zoning and adjacencies
- Describe the profession of Interior design and categorize employment within the breadth and depth of the industry
- Apply human factors in all Interior design projects
- Defend, question and analyze all design concepts and solutions

Instructional Strategies
