Description
Expand your jewellery making knowledge at your own jeweller's bench in this intermediate workshop. This course enables students to make projects of their own design while learning new fabricating techniques. Students will hone their skills in developing textures on metal, making bezels, and improving their ability to measure, fit and solder metal. Students will provide input on specific techniques they would like to see demonstrated in class.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- add textures to metals
- measure and cut bezels
- use intermediate soldering techniques
- set a round cabachon
- make a jewellery piece of their own design

Course topics
- Liver of sulphur patina
Texture on metal:
- embossing
- chasing
- doming irregular shapes
- reticulation
Round bezels for round cabochons:
- measuring and constructing bezel
- soldering bezel to ring or pendant/brooch/earrings
- setting round cabochon
Possible demonstrations include:
- fusing
- bezels with corners
- hollow form ring
- gypsy/flush setting
- jewellery findings (for brooch, cufflinks, earrings, etc.)
- hammered cuff
- fold-forming
- scoring and bending metal
- tabs for stone-setting, etc.
- drilling stone and other materials with diamond drill bit

Additional costs for materials and supplies approximately $50. Please bring your previous work to the first class.
