Description
Learn one of the oldest techniques for crafting jewellery. This course introduces students to wax carving and the lost wax casting process for rings or pendants. Students will learn about designing, wax carving methods and tools, spruing, investing, casting, and finishing sterling silver. Some basic metalsmithing techniques will also be covered.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Discuss wax carving methods and tools
- Design a piece of jewellery
- Carve wax models of a ring or pendant
- Cut the sprue and do investing (as it relates to wax carving)
- Use the lost wax casting process
- Finish and polish sterling silver jewellery
