Description
This overview of business operations in Canada provides essential knowledge for all managers and staff. Participants examine issues that arise from government policies, ethics, marketing, finance and economics, and the overall components of business operations.

Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Identify business trends including globalization and role of government in business
- Differentiate between the various forms of business ownership and the qualities associated with successful entrepreneurs
- Define strategies for adapting organizations to today’s markets
- Describe management practices and labour-management relations as they apply to current organizations
- Identify marketing strategies including developing and implementing customer-oriented marketing plans
- Define key accounting and financial activities

Instructional Strategies
Courses involve lectures, presentations, discussions, practical examples, and individual and group work. Learning will be enhanced through a variety of interactive classroom activities, collaborative activities, and case studies.
