Description
MATH 0650 introduces students to skills, concepts, vocabulary, and problem-solving strategies for working with common fractions. Topics include proper and improper fractions, mixed numbers, equivalent fractions, multiplying fractions, and dividing fractions. This course is the fifth of six levels of Basic Education Mathematics and will prepare students to meet personal, career, or further academic goals.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Use mathematical vocabulary and language to communicate the concept of fractions
- Reduce fractions
- Convert between improper fractions and mixed numbers
- Identify equivalent fractions
- Multiply and divide fractions
- Solve word problems by multiplying and dividing fractions

In this mastery-based curriculum, students focus on one skill at a time and move on after they demonstrate a high level of competence in that skill.
Students will demonstrate mastery of the material by achieving at least 68% on the following tests:
