Description
This course provides an overview of human anatomy and physiology relevant to the practice of a Medical Laboratory Assistant. Medical terminology, abbreviations, pathophysiology and lab tests relevant to each system are discussed. Other topics include: basic laboratory procedures including the use of common laboratory equipment and reagent preparation.

Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Identify the components of major structures of each body system.
- Describe the function of each body system.
- Define the medical terminology used to describe the anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology of common diseases and conditions.
- Describe common diseases or conditions affecting each system.
- Identify common tests used to diagnose or monitor common diseases and conditions.
- Use various systems of measure in the medical laboratory.
- Perform general laboratory procedures.
