Individual instruction is given in the student's major performance area. Included in this area, in addition to private lessons, is a master class for all students in the performance area. A jury exam must be performed each term and forms part of the credit. 0:1:0

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Play with tone depth and control
- Play with finger and articulation facility
- Play with expressive capabilities
- Identify and describe principles of instrumental performance practice
- Identify and describe stylistic differences
- Use practice techniques
- Sight read
- Identify and describe aspects of the history and literature of piano
- Identify, describe and use principles of psychological and physical preparation for performance
- Critically assess performance
- Play selected repertoire
- Establish a practice schedule

Instructional Strategies
Private instruction in technique, repertoire, style and performance. In addition, there is a weekly Master Class where students perform the repertoire they are working on for the other Classical Keyboard majors.
