Description
This course focuses on the conditions that affect the musculoskeletal system. The causes, risk factors, signs, symptoms, disease processes, and medical management of various orthopaedic conditions, including bone, joint and soft-tissue disorders are described.

Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Define key medical terms and abbreviations associated with disorders of the musculoskeletal system
- Describe how inflammation and tissue healing affects orthopaedic injuries
- Describe the cause, risk factors, types, signs, symptoms, disease processes and medical management of selected bone and joint disorders
- Describe the cause, risk factors, signs, symptoms, disease processes and medical management of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoporosis
- Describe the cause, risk factors, signs, symptoms, disease processes and medical management of selected soft tissue disorders
- Explain the indications, post operative protocols and rehabilitation process for joint replacement surgeries and hip fractures
- Explain the indications, post operative protocols and rehabilitation process for knee, ankle and back surgeries
