Description
This course focuses on the skills required to successfully enter the workplace. Topics include employment preparation, creating a portfolio, professional boundaries and expectations, ethical dilemmas and community health care teams and partnerships.

Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate knowledge of professional boundaries
- Engage in professional advocacy
- Demonstrate professional responsibilities for practice in specific health care agencies
- Demonstrate an understanding of the role of the OTA and PTA in community practice settings
- Apply strategies for complex ethical dilemmas within community settings
- Practice OTA and PTA administrative skills to support community health care teams
- Demonstrate professional behaviours in community settings

Instructional Strategies
Instructional strategies may include: Lecture, seminar, on-line learning, assignments, problem-based learning, videos, small group discussions, student-led review sessions and guest speakers. Role rehearsals, reflective practice and in-class presentations will also be included.
