Description
This course emphasizes the calculations required to accurately fill prescriptions and prepare pharmaceutical products in a hospital setting. Alligation, volumes of displacement, flow rates and infusion times are discussed. Calculations pertaining to pediatric and chemotherapy dosing are included.
This course is part of the full-time Pharmacy Technician Program.

Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Calculate quantities required for in-patient prescriptions
- Perform allegation calculations.
- Perform volume of displacement calculations
- Calculate infusion times.
- Calculate flow rates.
- Determine a dose based on a nomogram.
- Calculate quantities and volumes required for compounding sterile products.
