Description
This course focuses on the theory and principles of preparing sterile products. Topics included septic principles, clean room concepts, aseptic technique, Central Intravenous Admixture programs and quality assurance programs. During the lab portion of the course, students develop the skills required to prepare sterile products, including hazardous drugs such as chemotherapy
This course is part of the full-time Pharmacy Technician Program.

Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Discuss aseptic principles.
- Describe the aseptic environment.
- Describe the equipment and supplies required to prepare drugs for parenteral use.
- Use aseptic technique to prepare sterile products.
- Process orders according to CIVA program policies and procedures.
- Identify hazardous drugs.
- Explain and demonstrate the correct procedures for handling hazardous drugs.
- Participate in quality assurance programs.
