Description
The Instructional Strategies course provides participants with the opportunity to experience and learn about a variety of instructional strategies and techniques which they can apply to their own teaching practice. Participants will develop and adapt motivational strategies to better engage their students. They will also learn how to manage classrooms and handle difficult situations in a respectful, professional manner. Participants will use creative techniques and frameworks to help their students learn how to learn and how to think critically and creatively.

Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Compare and contrast strategies and techniques that support learning.
- Select motivational strategies and student engagement techniques that align with lesson outcomes.
- Select activities to promote critical thinking, metacognition and self-regulated learning in your students.
- Apply classroom management skills to create a positive learning environment.
- Apply critical reflective practices to concepts and issues associated with motivation and instructional strategies.
Prior Learning Assessment & Recognition (PLAR)
1. Actual curriculum products / portfolio created and used by the applicant in their workplace which are judged equivalent to the curriculum documents required in the PIDP 3250 course assignments.
2. A successful interview with the SIE Department Head or one of the full-time SIE faculty.
3. An essay in which the applicant describes the development of their thinking related to the themes, issues, and concepts of the 3250 course.

Instructional Strategies
Instructional strategies may include in-class workshops, active learning instructional strategies, experiential learning activities, discussions, group work, online activities, and self directed learning
