Description
Facilitating Learning Online Design provides participants with the opportunity to plan a unit of online learning and a prototype learning activity using an intentional design strategy. Progress on design projects will be shared weekly using simple visual tools. Participants will give and act on constructive feedback weekly, and present their projects to each other at the end of the course. Participants will also engage in reflection each week focusing on what has been learned and how it might be applied to other contexts.

Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Discuss important elements of online learning design, including quality, accessibility and design guidelines.
- Plan a short unit of online learning and a prototype activity that demonstrates an intentional strategy or learning approach.
- Participate in collaborative, constructive review and feedback of peer design projects.
- Present and explain design choices and pedagogical perspectives of online design project.
- Participate in a final collaborative, constructive review and feedback of peer design projects.
Prior Learning Assessment & Recognition (PLAR)
1. Actual curriculum products / portfolio created and used by the applicant in their workplace which are judged equivalent to course assignments.
2. A successful interview with the SIE Department Head or delegate.
3. An essay that describes the development of their thinking on the themes, issues, and concepts in the course.

Instructional Strategies
This course is taught online only. Instructional strategies may include instructor-made video, discussion forums, synchronous sessions, group work, independent research and reflective writing.
