Description
This course provides students with the necessary training to become a pool operator. Topics include pool chemistry, pathogens, water testing, circulation, filtration, disinfection, chemical handing, pool regulations and worker safety. This course meets the requirements under the Health Act for appropriate pool operator training. In order to successfully complete this course, students must have minimum 80% classroom attendance and pass (with a minimum grade of 60%) on the BC Recreation and Parks Association exam.

Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Accurately complete water testing
- Appropriately balance pool chemicals including the addition and management of chlorine
- Determine basic pool mechanical processes including filter backwash
- Describe pool mechanical and chemical requirements
- Recognize industry hygiene practices and maintenance
- Demonstrate appropriate handling and care of pool chemicals and products

Passing grade
Passing of the course is based on minimum 80% attendance and achieving a minimum of 60% on the BCRPA exam.
