Description

This course is part of the full time Retail and Hospitality Careers Program. Using a developmental approach, this course covers the essential skills needed in the workplace. Information is presented on recognizing and developing effective work habits, including appropriate interactions with co-workers, and taking direction from supervisors. Personal hygiene and grooming standards are identified and practiced throughout the program. Students learn about employee rights and responsibilities in unionized and non-unionized settings, and are made aware of the Employment Standards Act and the Human Rights Code. Students also learn how to identify and respond to workplace harassment.
