Description
This course teaches students with a fundamental literacy level of Grade 4 and above how to read and write words containing the letters A through M of the alphabet using uncontracted braille code. Numbers are introduced with the goal of providing functional literacy skills in braille.

Fundamental literacy skills (reading & writing) at Level 4 or equivalent.
Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Identify long and short words.
- Read aloud words containing the letters A through M.
- Be able to write and spell simple words using the letters A through M.
- Read some words and numerals in noncontextual environments (e.g. phone numbers and simple braille signage).
- Braille one page of uncontracted double-spaced text using the Perkins brailler, with no more than 3 errors.
