Description
The Wine & Spirits Education Trust (WSET) Wine Sommelier Level 1 is designed for individuals new to wine study. This qualification provides a hands-on introduction to the world of wine. You will explore the main types and styles of wine through sight, smell, and taste. You will learn the basic skills to describe wines accurately and to make food and wine pairings. Upon successful completion, you will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin.
Please bring your WSET workbook to the first class. WSET Workbook is available for purchase in the VCC bookstore.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Describe the main types and styles of wine
- Describe common wine grapes and their characteristics
- Discuss and apply storage and serving of wine
- Identify principles of food and wine pairing
- Describe wine using the WSET Level 1 Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine® (SAT)
