Two VCC Asian Culinary Arts grads are set to compete on the world stage along with 30 other countries at the World Master Chefs Competition for Cantonese Cuisine (WMCCCC) in Kuching, Malaysia from Sept. 4 to 6, 2023.

Underneath their composed demeanour lies a deep passion for cooking. Kevin Soo, who initially majored in computer science, got his first exposure to asian culinary arts working at a dim sum restaurant part-time. His teammate Justin Lu has risen to excel as the top student in his cohort last year without having prior commercial kitchen experience.

Indeed, this opportunity represents a big international milestone for the pair as they face off with elite chefs from around the world. This year, VCC's team will compete in the entrée category. The last time VCC graduates competed in this contest was in 2019, with alumnae Doris Lau and Joey Zhou winning bronze in the dim sum category.

Watch to hear more about what they can expect at the competition. Join us in wishing Justin and Kevin good luck!
